The Seven Values That Guide Our Mission
A = Age Appropriate -- We want to be sure that programs we plan will meet the needs and developmental levels of the students involved. We also want to make sure that our expectations for behavior are based on developmental readiness.
B = Bible-Based -- Our curriculum and programming must be true to God's word and all it teaches, even as we help the children apply the truth to their everyday lives.
C = Christ-Centered -- Jesus Christ is the reason we serve. He is the central focus to all we teach (even Old-Testament stories lead us to God's plan for salvation through Christ), His servant-leadership model is the one we will strive for as Children's Ministry volunteers.
D = Disciple-Directed -- Just as Jesus used a "small group" mentoring approach with those he taught, we also will use small groups within classroom settings. Older children may "mentor" younger children. Experienced teachers will mentor new teachers. Small group participation is encouraged for volunteers and parents alike.
E = Evangelisic -- Part of our programming will be dedicated to opportunities for our young people to share their faith ... to invite their friends to outreach events (like VBS, Kids Post Praise, Kid's Connect, Easter Egg Hunt, Fall Festival, and more) ... as well as service opportunities for them to learn to care for fellow church members in addition to community neighbors.
F = Family-Friendly -- We want families to have time to enjoy one another. Some possibilities are a weekend family camping retreat, a Labor Day weekend picnic, worship-with-your-family month, "adopt-a-grandparent," and game nights. Multi-generational events will foster the awareness that "our church is a family, too."
FUN! It probably goes without saying, but if it's fun, the kids will want to come back! Come to think of it, that's true for adults, too!
